Bryozoa MZS

This dataset that contains primary occurrence data for species.

Description

The Bryozoa collection is stored either dry or in fluid. Despite its limited size it contains several relevant ensembles from the second half of the 19th century. The two major collections are the ca. 270 specimens from Japanese coasts, mainly those collected by Ludwig Döderlein 1879-1881. Among them, one holotype and one type series have recently been described. The second is from Alexandre Myèvre, gathered in the Meditteranean. Smaller groups were from collects by Robert Damon in the Bass Strait, by the Sophie Expedition in the North See, by the Zoological station of Naples and by Oskar Schmidt in the Adriatic and Tyrrhenian Seas, by Gustav Steinmann in the Strait of Magellan, and by Heinrich Pagenstecher in various oceans.
