Herbarium Dresdense

This dataset that contains primary occurrence data for species.

Description

With around 500,000 specimens, the Herbarium Dresdense (DR) at TU Dresden is the largest herbarium in Saxony, Germany. Founded in the 1820s, the collection contains specimens from all over the world, with a particular focus on Europe and Saxony. The majority of the collection consists of vascular plants, supplemented by significant collections of mosses and lichens. Notable historical collections include the Potentilla collection of Theodor Wolf, the 18th-century Herbarium Barbiense, and collections of Heinrich Gustav Reichenbach, Oscar Drude, and many other local and international collectors from the 19th and 20th centuries. In recent years, the collection has grown steadily through field research (e.g. Germany, Angola, Vietnam, Central America).
