Description

The dataset contains source records enlisted by the author of the prominent Polish lepidopterist and artist, Jerzy Heintze, the author of the Atlas of Butteflies of Poland (Atlas Motyli Polski), published in 1978. The atlas presented 300 species of moths and butterflies carefully depicted by the author with usage of a very specific approach combining thorough morfometric measurements and classical painting techniques. All pictures were painted from live specimens bred or caught by the artist, accompanied by detailed descriptions of species biology. The atlas included also a list of localities and dates documenting origins of each specimen, digitized and hereby presented.
