Description
The Lepidotheca of the Natural Science Museum of Álava contains 80,000 specimens, 75,600 of them databased, belonging to 5,831 taxa. The collection began in 1974 and the main collectors have been Ibon de Olano, Juan María Marcos, Sigfrido Serrano, José María Salazar, Javier Gastón, Tomás Molina, Txema Revilla, Jesús Méndez Garnica, Fernando de Juana, José Sebastián Estévez, Fidel Fernández Rubio, Diego Sánchez Miyares and Mario Sarsa.
This first dataset here published comprises 4,172 specimens of the family Zygaenidae, mostly in the Palearctic region of the world; most of them collected in Spain and in Álava in particular.
