ISEA PAS European Diptera Collection

This dataset that contains primary occurrence data for species.

Description

The database contains 31,779 records of flies (Diptera) from the ISEA PAS collection (Krakow, Poland). With few exceptions, a single record refers to one specimen of the Diptera imago. In the case of materials obtained from breeding, it may also refer to a pupa, exuvium, or gall. The most numerous in the database are Diptera from the Brachycera group - Syrphidae, Tephritidae, Muscidae, Tachinidae, Empididae, Asilidae, Chloropidae and several smaller families. Among Nematocera, only Bibionidae and Scatopsidae were included. Specimens were collected in the period from the second half of the 19th century to 2022, most of them in Poland. A small portion of the specimens comes from other European countries (e.g. Ukraine, Bulgaria, former Yugoslavia).
