Defining SMART conservation objectives and measures for insufficiently known beetle species

This dataset that contains primary occurrence data for species.

Description

Within the project scope, existing data on target beetle species of Natura2000 sites in Croatia were analyzed and new field research was carried out in 2022 and 2023. The data on abundance and distribution of beetle species of interest to the EU in the Natura2000 designated for beetle conservation were acquired. Based on the results, conservation objectives and measures for Natura2000 sites designated for beetle conservation were proposed. The data were acquired using different methodologies, depending on the target species. Methodologies are described in the project report.

Geographic Description

Whole of Croatia

Methods

1. Desktop analysis of existing data on beetle species of EU interest

2. Identification of areas (1x1 and 10x10 km grid cells) with insufficient data

3. Field research targeted to the grid cells with the least data using different methodologies, depending on the species concerned, performed by beetle experts

4. Identification validation performed by a leading beetle expert

5. Data structured in an appropriate format and matched to DwC

Type of content

Includes: Point occurrence data.
