Project OPKK Monitoring Small mammals - occurrence data collected for the development of monitoring programs 2022-2023

Description

Within the framework of the Project “Monitoring Program development for species and habitat types of EU interest” within the Operational Programme “Competitiveness and Cohesion” (OPCC) project “Development of Monitoring Systems for Species and Habitat Types” Lot 5: Development of a monitoring program for small mammals with capacity building of stakeholders in the monitoring and reporting system“ old data were collected and validated and new data on the abundance and distribution of Dinaromys bogdanovi, Dryomys nitedula, Muscardinus avellanarius and Cricetus cricetus were gathered. New data were collected using methods described in the proposed monitoring program, aiming to test adequacy for long-term monitoring of species to evaluate its conservation status. This dataset includes occurrences of Dinaromys bogdanovi, Dryomys nitedula, Muscardinus avellanarius and Cricetus cricetus from 2022 till 2023.

All small mammals (Balkan snow vole, hamster, forest dormouse, hazel dormouse) occurrence data were incorporated in a unique xlsx standardized table and verified by small mammal experts.
