Description

Within the framework of the Project “Monitoring Program development for species and habitat types of EU interest” within the Operational Programme “Competitiveness and Cohesion” (OPCC) project “Development of Monitoring Systems for Species and Habitat Types” Lot 6: Development of a monitoring program for large carnivores with capacity building of stakeholders in the monitoring and reporting system“ old data were collcted and validated and new data on the abundance and distribution of Canis lupus - wolf were gathered. New data were collected using methods described in the proposed monitoring program, aiming to test adequacy for long-term monitoring of species to evaluate its conservation status. This dataset includes occurrences of Canis lupus from 2019 till 2023.

Key Experts validated all wolf occurrence data.

Methods

All wolf occurrence data were incorporated in a unique Camelot database and verified by wolf experts. New wolf data were collected via SMART database and SCALP methodology on data quality was applied.
