<p>[Spanish] La inauguración del Museu Martorell en 1882, fruto del legado del naturalista Francesc Martorell al Ayuntamiento de Barcelona entre el que destaca su colección malacológica, enmarca la fundación del Museu de Ciències Naturals de Barcelona. Desde entonces, la colección de malacología del Museo ha seguido creciendo gracias a la contribución de malacólogos como Artur Bofill, Joan Baptista d'Aguilar-Amat, Lluís Gasull, Baltasar Serradell, Manuel de Chía, Joan Rosals y Miquel Bech. Más recientemente, destaca la incorporación de las colecciones de los malacólogos Manuel Vilella y Lluís Prats. La gran mayoría de registros anteriores al siglo XXI consisten en muestras conquiológicas preservadas en seco, mientras que desde finales del siglo XX y hasta la actualidad predominan muestras de ejemplares enteros preservados en alcohol.</p><p>[English] The opening of the Martorell Museum in 1882—the result of a bequest by the naturalist Francesc Martorell to the Barcelona City Council, whose holdings included a notable malacological collection—marked the beginning of the Natural Science Museum of Barcelona. Since then, the Museum's malacology collection has continued to grow thanks to contributions from malacologists such as Artur Bofill, Joan Baptista Aguilar-Amat, Lluís Gasull, Baltasar Serradell, Manuel de Chía, Joan Rosals and Miquel Bech. More recently, the addition of the collections of malacologists Manuel Vilella and Lluís Prats stands out. The vast majority of records prior to the 21st century consist of conchological specimens preserved in dry conditions, while from the late 20th century to the present day whole specimens preserved in alcohol predominate.</p>
